MyWorld2015 is a global survey for citizens led by the United Nations and its partners, aiming to capture people's voices, priorities and views, so that global leaders can be informed as they begin the process of defining the new development agenda for the world. Through various creative online and offline methods, MyWorld2015 asks individuals which six of sixteen possible issues they think would make the most difference to their lives. The UN already had some visualizations of the total votes, but the task was to create a tool that helped them explore the data on a deeper level than the global votes and extract more conclusions based on different parameters.

Through a process of data augmentation and transformation, the world's votes were regrouped by regions instead of countries to give a feel of what the needs of the world were like in the different areas. A set of filters were added to make it possible to explore the votes combining gender, age and education level. Also there are various highlighting techniques and a callout box with extra information for a specific vote/region in order to isolate the results and compare them vertically and horizontally to the different votes within that region or same vote across different areas at a glance. Upon completion many conclusions were drawned, such as Africa being the ruler of the data (with over 180.400 votes in May 2013, more than six times the votes of the following region) and that the female population in some age ranges and education levels didn't have access to the poll in several regions of the world (specially in the Middle East and Central America)

These student admissions applications were developed for Spark451, a marketing company specialized in guiding prospective students throughout the enrollment cycle for higher education institutions. Fully branded and customized to the various colleges that are using it, the application offers three main features: regular application, transfer hub and a general dashboard. It was developed using the PHP Kohana framework, some external libraries/modules in order to generate graphical analytics, PDF files for exporting students information, maps with digests of the applicats by state, etc. and a SQL database system.

The regular application: consists of a series of forms asking the student to enter some biographical & academic data. Also there's an essay section, a document upload system, teachers and counselors recommendation letter request service and a couple other features. The transfer hub: this is a special feature for transfer students, which includes the regular application and a bunch of extra features in order for the student to request a guided visit at the School, to enter documents related to their status, grades, recommendation letters, etc. The Dashboard: this feature is focused on the School administration, where they can edit the programs they offer, deadlines, campuses, they can customize side banners with the information of their like, export student's info on PDF and CSV file formats, set custom e-mails to be sent to the students at different points of the process (account creation, application completed, application submited, teacher/counselor recommendation sent or received, etc.), collect both graphical (through the JavaScript D3 and GoogleCharts libraries) and numerical analytics on the performance of their applicants, and how they're doing and what phase of the application are they, etc.)

E-commerce platform implemented for Microcosmos Design, a company that offers exclusive designs by talented Alicia Monereo in digital prints. The timeless themes of the designs shape a visual trompe, offering unique collections of different approach: from t-shirts to kimonos, all the way through pregnancy clothing. Note: the site has been updated since with a new design.

This online store was implemented using PHP and a SQL database system, without any frameworks nor templates (based on the original designs by Alicia Monereo and Eduardo Cortils) The client wanted a custom payment system, connected straight to the bank, so it had to be hardcoded on PHP again with no packages nor modules. The site also included a custom CMS in order to create and update collections, items, pricins, etc. and also had a small analytics section with data about the stock and performance of the sales.

Web application developed for Spark451 in order to process huge lists of higher education students, import them to databases and be able to export them to CSV files transforming and mapping the fields based on different codes stored in custom templates. This process also included a deduplication tool, which ensured clean databases and single instances of the users.

This data transformation tool was implemented using Kohana, the PHP framework, and a SQL database system. Although this type of transformation could be simple task if it was fixed, the customization process via templates made it a very flexible tool. Also the capacity of the app wasn't only applying some substitutions at import time, but it allowed grouping certain values under a common field (e.g: extracurricular activities that came in different fields could be grouped together) and also had a mapping system that allowed a second substitution at export time based on the settings via custom templates. For example: users imported with a gender field marked as male or female could be exported using M or F.

Web Services developed for Spark451 in order to handle all the applications in a centralized manner. The future applications of the company will be implemented using services from this RESTful API, so that many different user interfaces may be implemented alwaysusing the same endpoints. This makes the products scalable and maintainable in an easier a more effective way.

This API was implemented following the REST architecture, using the PHP framework Laravel and both schema-free MongoDB a SQL database systems. Additionally some extra packages were used, such as the Amazon SDK (SES for email servies, S3 for file storage/retrieval, etc.), Twilio for instant sms services, Intervention for image processing (cropping, resizing, etc.), and many others including Eloquent extensions in order to handle the MongoDB databases. The API includes various Login services with different levels of security, a Surveys system, Analytics, Data (Import, Export, Templates, etc.), Content Management, and many more. All these features are handled from a unified Dashboard that controls all the settings for different clients: the access to different features based on tokens, custom analytics, their users, etc.

The range of other work I've done in the past years is diverse, including front-end development (such as the work I've done for the Branding and Design company Merry+Valenzuela) to back-end projects (like a custom integration of Analytics for the StatusBoard application for iPad, made for the clients of Spark451), going through minor forms and surveys for NYU Poly.
